HOPE FOR THE NEEDY ASSOCIATION (HOFNA CAMEROON) LAUNCHES ACTION 2015-CARIES STUDENTS ALONG




Hope for the Needy Association (HOFNA) with head quarters in Bamenda Cameroon has launched the Action 2015 which is a campaign to evaluate the millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and to measure the extend which they have been achieved, its difficulties and place a way foreword for governments of the world to build an agenda for post 2015, give attention and a chance to adolescent youth, give especially the neglected ones to an opportunity to speak out. The launch took place at the main campus of Progressive Comprehensive High School Bamenda (P.C.H.S) recently in an open session with over 200 students of form Four Grammar.
According to the programs manager of HOFNA, Munteh Florence,the association is involved in the action in line with the mission statement of HOFNA  which is to empower the most disadvantaged and susceptible youth achieve lasting positive changes in their lives, advocate for the sexual and reproductive health rights of young girls and the youth. As to the choice of PCHS, Munteh Florence intimated that it is a sensitive college, located at the heart of town, vulnerable, a soft spot for all because it is a lay private institution and far from fundamentalism as well as a host to students from diverse homes with different morals who can best represent the interest of HOFNA back in their homes, hence fits very well.
Coordinated by the Director of HOFNA – Christelle Bay C, the young people joined the whole world to voice their priorities to their world beyond 2015, emphasizing on Security especially in school environments as they do not want to experience Boko Haram as well as what the Chibok Girls went through. The called on World Leaders to Prioritize access to Good Education for ALL, creation of Job opportunities, SRHR of adolescents, Good Governance/Accountability, Gender equality as well as environmental justice.

At the close of the event, speaking to the press was Munteh Florence who spoke on behalf of HOFNA said as an organization, HOFNA believes that one can only be successful to the perspective of those they represent.” it was an opportunity for the students to know the world and to participate in calving the world to look like what they want”. She further announced that 2015 will make two world submits. She said in September world powers will be meeting to deliberate strategies to alleviate of poverty, education, inequalities and development challenges and in December it will be the turn of climate change and actions to combat climate change.
