BARISTER NGAM HONORE AJUO REPRESENTS NWR AND BOYO DIVISION IN THE HUMMAN RIGHTS COMMISION OF THE BAR
According to a latest decision signed by the
president of the bar council of Cameroon appointing officials of the human
rights commission of the bar council, Barrister Honore Ajuo Ngam is the lone
advocate from the north west region that have been appointed into the special
commission to advice the bar council and its president on human rights issues
at regional and national level. The decision signed by Me J. Ngnie Kamga, president
of the bar council names barrister Honore Ajuo Ngam member of an eleven man
committee with regional representation. The committee will have as a major
function to monitor and follow up the promotion and protection of human rights
and advise the bar council and the Batonair on issues of human rights. This
will enable the bar council to report extensively on human rights in Cameroon.
According to Honore Ajuo Ngam, his appointment into this special committee
falls in place with his rich experience in human rights issues and educational prowess.
In the days ahead, the committee will
have as mission to coordinate activities within the committee through regular
meetings at various levels aimed at addressing issues relating to human rights.
Commenting on the recurrent human rights issues in
the region, Honore Ajuo Ngam frowns on the complete failure in the provision of
social services to the population citing cases of incessant power outages
without prior notification, poor state of the roads into and within the region,
arbitrary arrests and detention of Cameroonians as some of the issues him and
the entire committee members will be making strides in attempting to remedy. Honore
Ajuo Ngam called for the bill of rights in 2011 with the believe of pressing
for constitutional entrenchment of human rights in Cameroon wherein cases can
be enforced in the court of law. This as even with the constitutional council
still on paper victims of human rights could be ignored blatantly
