Party, Contribution Cards will determine true Militancy in the CPDM-Hon. Waingeh

The Cameroon Peoples Democratic Movement, CPDM, party through the Central Committee has since the 14th of November 2014 engaged a nationwide campaign to identify its militants at the base through the sale of party and contribution cards. The exercise which is taking place on the eve of reorganisation of CPDM party basic organs due for 2015 has met with diverse opinions and views from some militants of the party. In the four sections of the party in Boyo division, officials have been working through the sub sections, branches and cells to get party militants identified.
Hon. Ndim Albert Waingeh alternate Central Committee member to Boyo says the move by the party to identify its militants through the sale of cards will present a true picture of the party’s militancy at the base.
Talking to Boyo Eye, he did not agree with some opinions that this exercise will scare away militants. Rather, Hon. Waingeh stated clearly that militants have to contribute for the up keep of the party and did not see any reason why a true CPDMmilitant will leave the party because they have been asked to buy party and contribution cards. Hear him” I think that it will scare away those who have been double dealing, which is just correct to say that if there are people who have been wearing one party inside and wearing another one on top, they will be scared away because of the contributions that are being asked for, and I have no doubt that the Central Committee has this in mind that there are people who in the morning are in one party, in the afternoon they are in another and yet in another in the evening. So when it comes to showing proof of their membership by contributing and they are scared, then it shows who they are”.
Hon. Waingeh none the less, said the outcome of the exercise in the Boyo III Section in Fundong may not really reflect the results of the 2013 municipal elections won by the CPDM, accepting the fact that some of those who voted for the party were sympathisers and militants of the SDF who were disgruntled with the output of those at the helm of the council at the time.
“Democracy does not say vote for my party but rather vote for the person who can deliver. If we find out that we have 1000 true CPDM militants and 2000 persons voted for our party during the 2013 elections, that just shows how convincing our candidates were. We are not obliging anyone who voted for the CPDM to come and buy party cards, because you must not belong to a party before you vote a party person into a position” Hon. Waingeh intimated.
He appealed to all CPDM militants in all the four sections to come out massively to buy the party and contribution cards. Party cards sell at 500FCFA, while contribution cards sell at 500FCA for women and youths, 1000FCFA for men and 500.000FCFA for honorary militants.
The identification exercise ends on the 31st of December 2014 after which the Central Committee will then program the reorganisation of party basic organs
